Pokémon Unite to Shut Down in March 2027
- Pokémon Unite will end service on March 23, 2027.
- A special event will run until service closure, introducing a Library feature.
- Players can access achievements post-shutdown via the Library, available from November 12, 2026.
Tencent’s popular MOBA, Pokémon Unite, will cease operations on March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC, as announced by The Pokémon Company. They expressed, “We regret to inform you that service for Pokémon Unite will end on Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC.”
In appreciation for its player base, a special event will commence immediately and continue until the game’s service concludes. This event will introduce several enhancements, including a new Library feature.
The Library feature will enable players to access the Practice Area of Pokémon Unite to view their earned items such as Holowear, cosmetics, Pokémon, and achievements. This resource ensures that players can retain a record of their progress, even after the game’s closure. It will be available starting November 12, 2026. However, players must utilize the Library before the service termination date to store the necessary data. As this data is kept locally, players may risk losing it if they switch devices.
The Pokémon website clarified, “Library data generally cannot be transferred when changing devices. If the game or library data is deleted or otherwise lost after service ends, it may not be recoverable. Support for the library feature will not be available after service ends.”
This approach offers a considerate way to conclude the game’s lifecycle by ensuring players can maintain a record of their in-game achievements.
Released in 2021, Pokémon Unite originally launched on the Nintendo Switch and subsequently on mobile platforms. The game is a free-to-play MOBA featuring two teams of five battling in an arena, securing control points and earning experience to level up their Pokémon. Previously, Pokémon Unite was discontinued in several European countries due to concerns over loot box gambling.
