Soulframe’s Epic Free Beta Launch: Can Warframe Devs Dethrone WoW?

Date:

Soulframe’s Preludes Beta Opens to All Nov. 6, Near Major MMO Releases

⚡ Quick Read (30-Sec Summary):

  • Soulframe’s Preludes beta launches for all players on November 6.
  • The launch coincides with the release of World of Warcraft: Forever and Old School RuneScape’s Hardcore worlds.
  • The Verse of the Veillands update introduces a revamped map progression system and a new Pact, the Ode Shrike.

Soulframe’s Preludes, serving as its beta version, is set to officially open to all players on November 6. This is just two days after the launch of World of Warcraft: Forever and happening in the same week that Old School RuneScape’s Hardcore worlds are released, creating a competitive environment for MMORPG players.

This launch follows three years of closed testing, during which select players were invited to experience the game. Throughout this period, Soulframe has undergone various updates, introducing new quests, Pacts (classes), and factions.

The November update, titled Verse of the Veillands, will significantly overhaul the map progression system. Players will encounter a corrupted area known as the Veillands after completing an initial quest, and they will need to purify it. This process will unlock new resources and side activities, including fishing.

Additionally, players will have the opportunity to train a small wolf pet into a mount. The game previously placed players directly into the open world without guidance; this update aims to provide a clearer introduction to the game’s mechanics. Updates to the Veillands system are expected to continue post-launch.

New content includes a fresh Pact named the Ode Shrike, which features gameplay mechanics focused on traps and disruption, enhancing combat strategy.

While it remains to be seen if this update will attract players to Digital Extreme’s latest project, the established sci-fi MMO Warframe is also slated to resume its narrative progression with a new release in December, transporting players to the Tau system.
